Most customers only use 25-50% of their storage resources. Bandwidth? Same story – only 1 of 1,000 customers will go over their allotted bandwidth over the course of a month. What some “high-claim” hosts are selling is the appearance of value, what they’re hoping for is that shoppers will just compare numbers and choose based soley on that.

This is just like paying rent for a storage locker and you have nothing in it!

It’s incredibly important for you to understand “MARKUP” margins etc. although most companies won’t discuss their margins with you. Just like in retail clothing. That branded blouse or shirt that you pay $45.00 for actually cost the retailer close to $10.00. I know I used to work as a manager in one of the largest clothing department stores for years. 500-600 percent markup is not unusual.

ONE IMPORTANT TIP: Try not to use a hosting server that’s located in someone’s garage. Even though it may sound like a good deal, If they don’t have a redundant backup system and a support staff available 24/7 your asking for problems. You may experience just one time that your website goes down in the year, but knowing Murphy’s Law, it’s when a new potential client is wanting to visit your site to make a decision to buy and your site is gone! So is your sale! Try getting your buddy that’s hosting your site, who has gone on a fishing trip for the week to come home and fix it.

And make sure that the hosting company provides real live customer service 24/7.
