Discovery Towers Multimedia Complaints
Discovery Towers Multimedia has been in business officially since 2001.
Go ahead and check us out on the “Way Back Machine” located at… http://www.archive.org/web/web.php
Now just type in www.discoverytowers.com you’ll see that we’ve been around for a long time… We are not a fly-by-night operation.
That means that over the course of several years we have had the opportunity to create almost a thousand websites in 8 years… That’s an average of about 12-14 websites per month.
At one point in the beginning it was Rich that did everything, then in the early years he partnered up with a Microsoft Certified Technician and in Sacramento they opened an actual Retail location with a web designer staff and not only developed websites, but provided video production services and computer repair on site as well as offsite services.
Today, there is no longer a retail location, Charlie found a great opportunity to work for a very large company with a company vehicle..haha and Discovery Towers sold the website “Sacramento Computer Repair.com” Sold the Video Production equipment and focused soley on website design.
We have 3 employees that work side by side and “WE DO NOT OUTSOURCE OUR WORK”!
COMPLAINTS…
In 8 years we have had 4 complaints about our service. You can check with the BBB and we seem to have a specific person that is dead set on causing as much damage to our reputation as possible.
All we can do is simply let the person vent… We will not stoop to name calling and the like but if you have been in business for any amount of time, you will find that once in a blue moon you will find someone who is simply unreasonable no matter what you do.
They come across as nice and sincere and then they get crazy. They start making unreasonable requests way beyond their original agreement. They are never happy no matter what you do.
In the beginning of every project we always offer a “FREE sample website mockup”. This is to insure that the customer/client can see that we are on the same page as them before they make a decision. Once they view it and like what we have done the next step is usually a deposit to get started.
Emails are an excellent way to determine intent and direction the client wants us to take. however, often we see a new direction being taken… usually as a result of an outside source… maybe a wife, husband, friend, associate and sometimes they get advice from other web designers as well. All of this is fine if the client communicates with us as to what they are trying to do but often, a client cannot even tell us why they want a change or an additional feature and because I’ve been in the industry for a very long time and also have lots of marketing experience I can usually understand why it’s being asked for.
Sometimes we get requests that have no value to the website or the business and is just one friend trying to impress the client as to how much they know and suggests something that is irrelevant.
Some people are not able to make a decision and are easily swayed by the slightest insinuation by others and those are difficult to work with…
So if someone goes crazy and starts complaining we try to resolve it without losing our pants on the project. We do stick up for our efforts…
If we made a mistake, if we did not get something done on time and it’s our fault, we will refund your money, but if the client is being unreasonable, we too are humans and have feelings and don’t like to be taken advantage of so we will fight for what work we have done.
It is then time to cut our loses and refund their money minus any effort we put into the project.
More often than not we, we lose money on those types of scenarios, thank goodness they’re few and far between.
OUR AVERAGE CUSTOMER IS AWESOME:
Typically our normal customers are friendly, excited, anxious and always reasonable.. We are a very small company and we only like to work with people we like. After so many years of dealing with people we often recognize “Personality Types”… Most are great to work with some are obvious and we simply pass on their project.
If you send an email on Friday night at 9pm and then on Saturday morning when I turn on the computer say at 9am and see 3 emails from you asking why I haven’t replied to that 9pm email… it’s likely that we will not work with you… This tells us a lot about your personality.
So if you feel that you are one of those people, please pass on our services.
We are very fortunate and we get plenty of business from the Internet and referrals. So again, if you believe in your heart that you are a good and reasonable person… We’d love to work with you, but if you’re a bit compulsive, obsessive… we’d prefer that you pass… We enjoy our work and want to work with nice people and not demanding folks..
Hope this helps you make a decision..
Thanks,
Rich
